The fans of The Flash were surprised when last week’s episode, “I Know Who You Are,” revealed that the villain Savitar was Barry Allen from the future. However, we know that fans were informed about this turn, and they were warned by Barry himself.
The warning came during the “Invasion” crossover story in the fall. Which brought together cast members from Supergirl, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow. While the crossover, time traveler Rip Hunter received a message from a future Barry Allen warning Rip not to trust anyone in the future, also including Barry himself.
This warning is related to the Savitar reveal, and that won’t go unmentioned on The Flash.
“Someone does point out that suddenly that message makes a lot of sense,” said executive producer Andrew Kreisberg.
In the next episode of The Flash, “Cause and Effect,” Barry takes extreme measures to stop Savitar. Meanwhile, H.R. continues to force Tracy Brand to create the trap for Savitar and Killer Frost returns with an exciting offer.
“Cause and Effect” is directed by David McWhirter from a script by Judalina Neira & Lauren Certo.
The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
After successfully closing the Singularity from defeating Central City, Barry thinks he’s seen the worst. But the appearance of Jay Garrick shows that the Singularity opened portals to an alternative Earth. Known as Earth-2, which is being terrorized by a terrible evil speedster named Zoom.
As Zoom sends an army of Earth-Two meta-humans to Earth-1 to defeat Barry, he gets unexpected big help from the Earth-Two doppelganger of his previous mentor, Harrison Wells. Meanwhile, Cisco realizes that he, too, was attacked by the dark matter of the Particle Accelerator and must come to terms with his newfound abilities.
As Barry tries to juggle life as a hero, he opens his heart to Patty Spivot. She is a detective paired with Joe West. But he realizes just how difficult it is to find happiness when the lives of everyone you love are at stake. He finds some comfort in the companionship of his father, Henry Allen, who was freed from a wrongful life sentence. But when Zoom kills Henry before Barry’s eyes, Barry’s newfound stability is destroyed.
Blinded by anger, Barry plays into Zoom’s game and uncovers the evil speedster’s true goal. To defeat all Earths in the multiverse. In the race of his life, Barry finally gets the upper hand against Zoom and defeats his enemies. But unable to celebrate a victory, Barry makes a world-shaking choice. And also speeds back in time to the night his mother died to stop Reverse Flash from killing her.
Irrevocably changing his past and redetermining his future.
